Calculators run in your browser, and the numbers you enter are never sent to a server.

Data our calculators handle

Any calculator on this site runs entirely in your browser. The numbers you type, such as position size or leverage, are processed locally on your device and are never sent to a server. This means we cannot see, store, or share those numbers. The only exception would be if you explicitly submit a form, but our calculators do not have a submit function.

We do not use any analytics tool that captures keystrokes or form inputs. The only data we collect about your visit is aggregate traffic counts, such as the number of page views per day. This data cannot identify you personally.

Cookies and local storage

We use local storage to remember your own preferences, such as your preferred display settings or the last instrument you selected. This data stays on your device and is not transmitted to us. You can clear it at any time through your browser settings.

We do not set our own tracking cookies. However, if you click an affiliate link and go to a broker's website, that broker may set its own cookies under its own privacy policy. We have no control over those cookies, and you should review the broker's privacy policy before providing any personal information.

Third-party links and brokers

Our site contains links to broker websites, including FxPro. When you click one of these links, you leave Aurum Rand and are subject to the broker's own privacy policy and terms of use. We are not responsible for how the broker handles your data. For South African clients of FxPro, the regulator caveat is that FxPro is licensed by the FCA (UK) and CySEC, and an FxPro entity holds an FSCA licence in South Africa — check which entity your own account is opened with.

We do not share any personal data with brokers because we do not collect any personal data. The only data we have is aggregate traffic counts, which cannot be used to identify you.

What this site stores and what it does not

This site stores no personal financial data. We do not hold your name, ID number, bank account details, trading account numbers, or transaction history. The calculators on this site process numbers in your browser only, and nothing you type is saved to our servers. We have no database of user inputs, no profile records, and no way to link your activity on this site to your real identity unless you choose to contact us directly.

What we do store is limited to anonymous technical logs kept by our hosting provider. These logs may include your IP address, browser type, approximate location at city level, and the pages you visited. This is standard for almost every website and is used only to keep the site secure and stable. We cannot use these logs to identify you personally, and we do not combine them with anything else.

We also store a small amount of information in your browser using cookies and localStorage. This includes your chosen language, display preferences, and the values you last typed into a calculator so the page can remember them on your next visit. None of this data is sent to us. It stays on your device and can be cleared at any time from your browser settings.

Cookies and what each kind is for

Strictly necessary cookies keep the site working. They remember your privacy choices, such as whether you have accepted or declined optional cookies, and they preserve your session state while you move between pages. Without these, the site would forget your preferences on every page load and you would be asked the same questions repeatedly.

Preference cookies remember how you like the site to behave. They store settings like your preferred language, whether you want the calculator to show results in R or USD, and any layout choices you have made. These cookies are set only when you interact with a setting, and they are stored locally in your browser. They do not track you across other websites.

Analytics cookies are used only if you agree to them. They help us understand which pages are visited most often and whether visitors find the calculators useful. We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not allow third-party ad networks to place cookies through this site. Every cookie we set has a clear purpose, and you can refuse all except the strictly necessary ones.

Affiliate tracking stated plainly

This site earns money through affiliate links. When you click a link to a broker such as FxPro and open an account, the broker may pay us a commission. This does not change the price you pay, and it does not affect the content of our pages in any way. We write the same information whether or not a broker pays us, because our reputation depends on being accurate.

Affiliate tracking works by adding a unique identifier to the link you click. That identifier tells the broker that you came from this site, but it does not tell them who you are. The broker will still ask you to create an account and verify your identity according to their own procedures. We do not receive your personal details, your trading history, or any information about your account balance.

You can avoid affiliate tracking by typing the broker's web address directly into your browser instead of clicking our link. The information on this site will still be here for you to read. We believe in being open about how this site is funded, and we will never hide the fact that a link is an affiliate link. If you are unsure, hover over a link and look for a tag like 'ref' or 'aff' in the URL.

Third parties involved in running this site

Our hosting provider stores the anonymous technical logs mentioned earlier. This provider is a large, reputable company with data centres outside South Africa, and their privacy practices are governed by their own policies. We have configured the hosting to keep logs for the shortest practical time, and we do not access them unless there is a security problem.

The broker we link to, FxPro, is a third party with its own privacy policy. When you follow a link to FxPro, you leave this site and everything you do there is covered by FxPro's terms. FxPro is licensed by the FCA (UK) and CySEC, and an FxPro entity holds an FSCA licence in South Africa — check which entity your own account is opened with. We have no control over how FxPro handles your data.

If you agree to analytics cookies, we use a privacy-friendly analytics service that does not track you across the web. This service gives us aggregated numbers like total page views and average time on page. We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any other tracking that builds a profile of you. We have chosen this setup deliberately to minimise the number of third parties that ever see your data.

Your rights and how to use them

You have the right to know what personal data we hold about you. In practice, we hold almost nothing, because this site does not create user accounts and does not collect your name or contact details. If you believe we might have data about you, you can ask us for a copy. We will respond within 30 days and tell you exactly what we have, which will usually be nothing beyond an IP address in a server log.

You have the right to ask us to delete any personal data we might have. Since we do not store your name, email, or any other identifier, there is rarely anything to delete. If you have contacted us by email, we will delete that email thread on request. You can also clear all cookies and localStorage from your browser at any time, which removes the only data stored on your device.

To exercise any of these rights, send an email to privacy@aurumrand.co.za. Tell us what you are asking for and include enough detail for us to understand the request. We will not ask you to prove your identity beyond what is necessary, because we hold so little data. If you are unhappy with our response, you can complain to the Information Regulator in South Africa.

How long this site keeps data and what triggers deletion

This site keeps no personal data at all by default, so there is nothing to age out. When you use a calculator, the numbers you type are processed only in your own browser and are not sent to any server. If you follow a broker link and the broker later identifies you as a referral, that connection is held by the broker, not by this site. Any cookie this site places is set to expire within a few months, and you can delete it at any time from your browser settings. There is no account, no profile, and no database that would require a retention schedule.

If this site ever begins to store data, the default retention will be the shortest period needed for the stated purpose, and never longer than twelve months unless a law requires otherwise. For example, a cookie that remembers your preferred language would be kept only until you clear your browser or the cookie expires on its own. A contact form submission, if one is ever added, would be deleted within six months after the matter is closed. Nothing is kept indefinitely, and no archived copy of your activity is created.

Deletion is automatic for cookies when they expire, and manual deletion is always available through your browser. Because no server logs of your calculator inputs are kept, there is no backup that could restore them later. If you have stored anything yourself, such as a bookmark or a note, that remains under your control and is not part of this site. Any future stored data would be erased when you ask, using the contact method described in the rights section, and the erasure would be confirmed to you within thirty days.

What the calculators do with the numbers you type

The gold position size and margin calculators process every number entirely inside your browser. When you enter an account balance in rand, a risk percentage, and a stop-loss distance, the script runs the formula locally and shows the result on the same page. No input is transmitted to Aurum Rand, to FxPro, or to any analytics service. The page works even if you disconnect from the internet after it loads, which proves that the calculation does not depend on a remote server.

The numbers are retained only in the temporary memory of the current tab. If you close the tab or navigate away, the inputs are gone. The site does not write them to a cookie, to local storage, or to any hidden field. If you refresh the page, the calculator resets to its default values. This design means that even a malicious script could not recover your balance or stop-loss because those values were never copied anywhere else.

The only output the calculator produces is the suggested position size in lots, the margin required at the leverage you select, and the rand value of the risk. Those results are shown as text on the page and are not logged. If you take a screenshot, that is your own copy and is outside this site. No recommendation is stored, and no profile of your trading habits is built from repeated use.

What leaves your browser when you follow a broker link

When you click a link to FxPro on this site, your browser sends a standard HTTP request to FxPro's domain. That request includes your IP address, the page you came from, and a user-agent string that describes your browser. This is the same information any website receives when you visit it directly, and it is necessary for the connection to work. Aurum Rand does not add any extra parameters to the link, such as your name or email, because it does not have them.

The link may contain an affiliate identifier that tells FxPro you arrived from Aurum Rand. That identifier is a fixed code for this site, not a unique code for you. It allows FxPro to credit Aurum Rand if you open an account, but it does not reveal your identity or your browsing history on this site. FxPro's own privacy policy then applies to everything you do after the click, and you should read it before you register.

No data about your calculator inputs, your location beyond what your IP address implies, or your activity on other parts of this site is attached to the link. The only thing that leaves is the fact that you clicked from this domain. If you prefer, you can type FxPro's address directly into your browser and no referral will be recorded, but the risk and product information on this site will not change.

FAQ

Account and costs

What personal information does Aurum Rand collect?

We collect only what you voluntarily provide, such as your name and email if you contact us, and basic analytics data like pages visited and approximate location. We don’t ask for ID documents, bank details, or trading account credentials.

Do you share my data with FxPro or other third parties?

We don’t sell or rent your data. If you click a referral link to FxPro, they may set their own cookies and collect data as described in their privacy policy. Our analytics provider sees aggregate usage data, not your personal identity.

Do you use cookies on this site?

Yes, we use essential cookies to make the site work and optional analytics cookies to understand traffic. You can disable analytics cookies in your browser, but essential cookies are required for basic functions like remembering your consent choice.

How long do you keep my email if I contact you?

We keep emails only as long as needed to respond and for our records, typically up to 12 months. After that, they are deleted unless required for legal reasons. We don’t use your email for marketing unless you explicitly opt in.

Can I request deletion of my data?

Yes, you can email us to request deletion of any personal data we hold about you, such as your contact messages. We’ll comply within 30 days, except where we have a legal obligation to retain it. Note that we can’t delete data held by FxPro or analytics providers.
